Ground Control supported Teens Unite Fighting Cancer charity in partnership with Tesco, gifting two days of large-scale tree works and site clearance works at their new headquarters at Home Farm in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. Home Farm is a beautiful house and garden that is being transformed into a pioneering retreat for teenagers and young adults living with a cancer diagnosis.

As a regular provider of grounds maintenance services to Tesco, Ground Control was delighted to get involved in the cause through the Tesco Property Team, donating expertise and labour in large-scale tree works, hedge trimming, and site clearance enabling works to the project.

As an established partner to Teens Unite, Tesco has provided much support to the project and, in return, the charity has hosted CSR opportunities for Tesco employees at the Home Farm location.

Teens Unite Fighting Cancer exists to improve the lives of teenagers and young adults living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. Home Farm is being transformed into a dedicated retreat to provide support outside the medical environment.

Currently, in the UK, 40,000 teenagers and young adults are living with cancer and the lasting effects of their diagnosis. 87% of teenagers and young adults are now surviving their cancer for five years or more. But, medically overcoming cancer is just part of the struggle they face and the care provided by Teens Unite is critical to their long-term recovery.

The site will provide accommodation for 20 young people to stay for three to four nights at a time. Onsite, they will have access to a dedicated sports facility, an outdoor kitchen, education, and plenty of outside, community space and holistic support. The project is the first of its kind in the UK. There is no other site like this for teenagers living with cancer outside of the medical environment.

Roxanne Lawrance, Chief Executive of Teens Unite Fighting Cancer said:

Teens Unite is incredibly grateful for the support that Ground Control and Tesco are providing to the charity, at our new premises, through the tree works.
Through the partnerships we have with organisations such as Ground Control and Tesco, gifting us their services and expertise saves Teens Unite a significant amount of funds, enabling us to help more young people living with and beyond their cancer diagnosis.

Teens Unite are always keen to welcome organisations that want to make a life changing difference to others, to partner with us through either team fundraising or services delivery. In return, we provide them with exclusive access to our corporate volunteering opportunities. If your organisation would like to be part of closing the care gap for young people living with cancer, please do speak to us about becoming a partner.

There are lots of exciting opportunities for charity partners and supporters to help. Please speak to Teens Unite Fighting Cancer about becoming a partner.
