Celebrating neurodiversity and safety excellence at the National Highways Sector Scheme Awards!

Ground Control’s Highways team attended the inaugural Highways Northwest Region Health & Safety Awards on 6th February 2025 as nominees in the Well-being Campaign of the Year award for the Ground Control Neurodiversity Campaign.
The National Highways Sector Scheme Awards 2025 is a series of awards that recognise excellence in the highways industry. The awards celebrate projects, products, and people who have made a positive impact on the industry.
Ground Control was awarded 'Runner-up, best in class' in the ‘Wellbeing Programme of the Year’ category for the Ground Control Neurodiversity Campaign. The campaign was delivered in 2024 and championed by Ground Control’s HSQE manager for the North region, Richard Huysers, and commercial assistant Sarah Jay.
Neurodiversity exists as a term to celebrate the value of different strengths that people bring to the world and the idea that there's no right or wrong way to think, learn, or behave.
The campaign has been instrumental in fostering awareness, support, and inclusion for neurodiverse individuals within Ground Control and our wider industry.
Ground Control Operations Director Infrastructure, Paul Hayes said:
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this journey. This recognition is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing our commitment to inclusion, well-being, and diversity in everything we do.
Our Neurodiversity Campaign is about creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for everyone, so it's great to be recognised in this way.
Let’s keep the momentum going—because no one should suffer in silence!
