BALI National Landscape Awards 2021
Ground Control, the UK’s leading supplier of award-winning external services, is delighted to have been awarded three British Association of Landscape Industries 2021 Awards in the following categories:
- Employee Excellence - Turn Over £2.5M
- Community and Schools Development
- Grounds Maintenance (to include Green Roof Maintenance) – Limited Public Access
The annual BALI National Landscape Awards are the largest landscape Awards in Europe. They recognise excellence in landscape design, construction, and maintenance both in the UK and overseas, as well as recognising businesses in the industry for customer service and employer excellence.
Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts, and winning a BALI award demonstrates exemplary standards of professional excellence. The Awards celebrate the skill, hard work, quality, commitment, and successes of BALI Registered members.
Ground Control is delighted to be winners in the following categories:
Employer Excellence – Turnover Over £2.5M
For this category, Ground Control was recognised for its inclusive culture that encourages, supports and celebrates diversity of all its people whilst fueling entrepreneurialism and innovation. This includes a like-minded team, who live by the Ground Control values of:

Community and Schools Development Award, for Splashlands, Stanborough Hall at Welwyn Garden City
In this category, Ground Control was recognised for expertise in landscape construction through transforming an old Lido into a new children’s water play area that’s safe, environmentally sustainable, innovative and community-focused.
Grounds Maintenance (to include Green Roof Maintenance) – Limited Public Access, for Historic Royal Palaces – Tower of London.
Ground Control was recognised for maintaining the grounds at the Tower of London World Heritage site, one of the most iconic and photographed landmarks in the UK. With an average of 10-15,000 visitors per day (3 million visitors per year) Ground Control has been responsible for keeping the grounds in pristine condition for over 20 years.

Members will now compete to win the Principal Award for each of the 29 Awards categories, and for the highly coveted overall Grand Award at the ceremony later this year at JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane, in London on 3 December 2021.
The National Landscape Awards’ expert Judging Panel, led by Chair John Melmoe, was joined by Wayne Grills and team members from Landscape House for three days of deliberation in mid- August, where every entry was reviewed and scrutinised.
