Austin joined Ground Control in 2018 as Operations Director, initially managing complex rail and infrastructure projects before taking on full responsibility for the Infrastructure & Rail business unit as Divisional Director. Within a year and a half, he led a transformational rebuild of the business, scaling operations and reorganising the business for future growth.

As leader of the Infrastructure and Rail business, Austin plays a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across England, Scotland and Wales.

He brings over 25 years of experience managing large-scale operations, enabling a culture of innovation and agility. Under his leadership, the division has expanded geographically, now truly delivering nationally, and diversified to provide new, complementary services.  It has tripled its revenue and continues to go from strength to strength as a Network Rail principal contractor, operating across all regions and routes, and National Highways SDF partner. His team’s dedication to safety excellence has earned prestigious accolades, including four RoSPA President’s Awards, recognising multiple, consecutive Gold Awards for the business.

Known for his determination and decisiveness, Austin combines strong commercial acumen with practical problem-solving skills to deliver strategic and operational solutions in complex, safety-critical environments. His unerring drive for superior service delivery ensures projects are executed efficiently, safely and with a focus on long-term success.

Beyond Austin’s professional pursuits, he loves creating adventures with his kids and is a keen cyclist, having completed some gruelling cycling challenges and always pushing the boundary by setting even more ambitious routes.
