He identifies market opportunities and understands how to effectively motivate employees and apply resources to optimise these opportunities. This is backed up by measures of success in the form of strong commercial performance, financial results and demonstrable growth that creates real, added shareholder value.  

Evidence of effective planning for sustained growth, innovation, customer engagement, loyalty and an ethical approach to business was also apparent in Simon’s standout nomination.
